Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Placebo Works Even if Patients Know - Health Blog - CBS News
Is it possible that we can see "Placebo for Pain Relief", "Placebo for Respiratory diseases", or "Placebo for Cardio Vascular diseases"?
Comparing a group of people taking pills that are made of inert substances with the word "Placebo" printed on the bottle, to another group of people who were told to do nothing in a recent study of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, revealed that the placebo worked almost as the leading medication on the market.
Although the study was small and it is not clear what it would mean for other conditions, yet the most important question it raises is , isn't it better to add traditional herbs to the placebo and submit it to research?
